Los Angeles, San Diego Social and Cultural Study time: 2023.8.19-8.25 (1 week, optional)

Course Directions: You may choose one of the "English Language and Culture/Academic Skills" programmes.
Projects imformation:
(1)Register as a visiting student at the University of Washington, receive a student ID card, use on-campus library resources and public facilities, and enjoy local student discounts on selected consumer occasions;
(2)Small class sizes, divided according to English level, with approximately 14 students per class, allowing for full communication and interaction with international students. Approximately 15 hours of theory classes per week, taught by highly educated and experienced faculty from the University of Washington's International and English Language Programmes department;
(3)Two outdoor visits per week, including: the famous Pike Place Market, Seattle Centre, Bellevue Square, a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island, enjoying group sports or games on campus, and visits to various Seattle neighbourhoods;
(4)Upon completion of the course, members of the programme team will receive a certificate of completion from the University of Washington. The certificate of completion of a short-term course at a world-renowned university can be used as one of the most important background materials for applying to study at a prestigious overseas university.
(5)The school is located in Seattle, a famous city in the western part of the United States, which is rated as the best place to live in the United States, and is the birthplace of world-famous companies such as Microsoft, Boeing, Amazon, Starbucks, etc. It has a long history and deep culture, which makes it suitable for young students to explore and experience the atmosphere of innovation and entrepreneurship.
(6)At the end of the course, students can choose to fly from Seattle to Los Angeles and San Diego for a one-week social and cultural tour of the United States. To visit colleges and universities for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), University of California, Riverside (UCR), University of California, San Diego (UCSD), etc.; go to the Getty Art Centre, the Observatory, Universal Studios, Avenue of the Stars, Mexican towns and other places to carry out fieldwork, during which to visit the aircraft carrier at Midway Island and other activities. The colourful activities enable students to learn as much as possible about American higher education, human landscape, industry and economy, etc., and enhance the value of the visit.

Accommodation:
First 3 weeks in local Seattle host families or flats, 4th week in Los Angeles, San Diego hotels or flats. Meals are included at home with the host family and breakfast is included at the hotel.
3.Fees and Financial Aid Description
3-week programme fee: $6,500 (equivalent to about 43,000 RMB, fluctuating according to the exchange rate); including: tuition, accommodation, activity class fees, pick-up and drop-off.
The cost of the 4th week social and cultural study tour to Los Angeles and San Diego: 2280 USD (equivalent to about 15,000 RMB, fluctuating according to the exchange rate); including: Seattle-Los Angeles airfare, accommodation, transport, tour guide, and tickets to the study tour sites in the itinerary.
The above costs do not include: international round-trip airfare (can apply for financial assistance), visa fees, overseas insurance and personal consumption.
Financial Aid:
Students who apply and pass the interview will receive funding for international round-trip airfare (worth no more than RMB 8,000) from the programme provider. 10 students will be funded by the whole university, subject to the order of application and while stocks last.

Application Requirements:
Full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students; pass the oral test of the Programme Department; comply with the law and consciously safeguard the image of the country and the reputation of the university.
